Chris Dodd's Homer Simpson Moment Today

  Homer Simpson is the Patriarch of the long running cartoon Sitcom, on the post nuclear "Nuclear family". As viewers of the series would attest to the creators have created a recurring plot device displaying what goes on in side Homers Mind. When Homer says something stupid; even for Homer; we the audience hear the little voice go "Did I just say that out loud??".

According to MSNBC FirstRead Today Chris Dodd Presidential hopeful said the following

"Polls don't mean spit" was the oft-repeated mantra today in DC by the president of the International Association of Firefighters and Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Chris Todd.

According to Dodd, and IAFF president Harold Shaitberger, however, the  "very extensive surveys we've conducted and phone contacts with voters in these states" (hey, isn't that
called "polling?") in Iowa and New Hampshire do mean, ummm, spit. Shaitberger said voters are apparently still undecided in the early primary and caucus states, and will make their decisions not in August, which is filled with "more theater, more popularity contests," but rather in December and January, when "they get serious about their decision."

"We've ignored the polls and the money and the pundits, who are generally off base...put it all on the table, and our choice was clear," he said.

To get to the point here's 4 points/Questions

1. Did Dodd just say something he didn't mean to say out loud?

2. If he did mean to say this out loud and if polls don't mean spit and 70% of America wants to get out of Iraq based on Polling does this mean that everybody wants to stay in Iraq

3. By saying this out loud in order to salvage his campaign he just submarined the entire Anti-War movement.

4. Did Dodd just make just make a careeracidal blunder?
