Friday Night Video Club

Fri Apr 18, 2008 at 06:14:40 PM PDT

The rules for Friday Night Video Club:

  1.  Duh, you do not talk about Friday Night Video Club.  Except in the comments, comments on the owners' youtube pages, conversations you have with other people or things, or on your own sites and blogs.  Other than that, kindly keep your yap shut.
  1. No videos over 3:30 long.  Yes, I've heard all about your "in depth analysis," but this is Friday Night, dammit.  If we're geeky enough to be watching internet videos, we're geeky enough to know that internet videos should be under minutes.  Dr. Zhivago was a great flick too, but I don't want to watch it on a 3X2" screen.
  1. Enjoy.  If you like what you see here or in the comments, spread it around.  Make positive comments in the videos' comment sections.  Please be kind--very few of these people actually get paid to create what you just enjoyed for free.  And show off the coolest, funniest, most compelling videos--preferably with progressive political themes--you've seen all week.

The top three of the week after the bump...

Election year shock doctrine: Iran ready to go

Wed Jan 09, 2008 at 05:50:31 PM PDT

While we're (rightly) concerned with the election, the dynamic is ready to change.  Bush has his pretext, one just has to wonder about the date.

Ron Paul/Racist...I can't believe I'm quoting PJM

Tue Jan 08, 2008 at 12:07:13 PM PDT

Of course, you should always consider your source...in this case, Pajama Media via Drudge.

I KNOW.  Weird, right?  I always check Drudge and Fox because, y'know, someone's got to keep an eye on those bastards.

But, if there's anything both sides of this debate should be able to agree on, it's that Ron Paul is a buffoon.  Ultra-satisfying evidence of that has been unearthed via New Republic.

BREAKING: Brits draw down MORE, coalition crumbling

Tue Oct 02, 2007 at 12:01:40 PM PDT

The Brits are pulling out yet another 1000 from Southern Iraq.

The "coalition of the willing" comprised of "36 Nations" (there aren't enough quotes in the world to express my skepticism for those terms) is going...going...just about gone.

We're going it alone, yall.

New Greenspan Book disses Bush, GOP.

Fri Sep 14, 2007 at 05:34:50 PM PDT

Interesting.

Greenspan has never been seen as extraordinarily partisan, although he generally is assumed to lean wide to the right.  (Some of us think he leans WAY to the right, but that's not conventional wisdom)  So this, on the WSJ pages, is news.

My Progressive Friends: on the 9/11 Truth Movement

Wed Sep 12, 2007 at 02:43:28 PM PDT

Let it be said, this is an emotional issue for everyone.  As fellow Progressives, let us put emotion aside and discuss a serious issue: the 9/11 Truth Movement.

Truth be told, it is all I can do to keep from putting quotes around the word "truth."  Like all of us, I feel strongly about the topic, but let us not resort to ad hominem attacks or demeaning one anothers' beliefs.

Let us discuss.

Bush Knew There Were No WMDs BEFORE Iraq War - New Salon Piece

Wed Sep 05, 2007 at 07:18:01 PM PDT

A new Salon piece by Sidney Blumenthal will blow your mind.

Some Ex-CIA folks are to reveal: Bush was briefed by Tenet, he was told there were no WMDs.  He blew it off, Tenet let him do it...

Wolf Blitzer vs. Michael Moore--Round 3

Wed Jul 11, 2007 at 02:56:12 PM PDT

On The Situation Room (no, it's not "in," I need not promote their show by perverting my grammar) Wolf just went after Michael Moore AGAIN by introducing a clip from him--rather awkwardly--into a conversation with an military spinster...
